After a successful North American headline run, EELS will begin their European tour on June 17th, including shows in London, Amsterdam, Glasgow, Paris, and Barcelona. See below for full tour details.
To celebrate the live performances, the band debuts a new video for the song ‘Rusty Pipes’ today. The video was directed by multi-award winner Matthias Hoene, executive produced by Claire Stubbs and produced by Ani Mikirdichian and Michael Arter for Partizan.

“When I first listened to the song, I really responded to the theme of being out of sync with your environment and the story almost wrote itself. The hard work was to structure the story to be perfectly in sync with the song, and get every storytelling beat right while shooting on our tight 2 day schedule” notes Hoene. “I initially sketched the costume roughly on my iPad and then Yungah Lee a super talented concept artist I’ve worked with fleshed out my idea. Finally we had a team of model makers in Prague make the costume from old bits of metal and pipes and ship it over to us in LA. I was doing the final VFX shot myself on a plane to LA and the person sitting next to me watched what I was doing and asked if I was a drainpipe salesman, which I consider as a job done sign of approval.”
The album was recorded by E and longtime collaborators Koool G Murder and P-Boo, alongside The Deconstruction Orchestra and Choir, and produced by E with some songs produced with Mickey Petralia for the first time since 1998’s Electro-Shock Blues.
EELS have had one of the most consistently acclaimed careers in music. The ever-changing projects of principal singer/songwriter E (Mark Oliver Everett), EELS have released 11 studio albums since their 1996 debut, Beautiful Freak. In 2008, E published his highly acclaimed book Things the Grandchildren Should Know and starred in the award-winning Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives documentary about the search to understand his quantum physicist father, Hugh Everett III.
EELS released their critically acclaimed The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett in 2014, and 2015 saw the release of the band’s extraordinary seventh live album Live at Royal Albert Hall, recorded at the storied London venue and accompanied by a concert film. In the same year, the band’s “Fresh Blood” served as the theme song to HBO’s “The Jinx” and from 2016 to 2018 E appeared in Judd Apatow’s Netflix original series “Love.”
