Super Furry Animals reveal the video for their first new music for seven years, BING BONG, a communal disco anthem, sung in Welsh and described by the band as a ‘lunar howl’. Released digitally today (Friday 13 May 2016) on Strangetown Records, the band also announces that the single will be immortalised on black plastic, with a 12” version arriving in stores on Friday 17 June 2016.
The video, directed by long-term collaborator, Mark James and shot in Cardiff by Ryan Owen Eddleston, sees the band demonstrate no shortage of dexterity with a football at their heads and feet, yet dispense with the conventions of the game in favour of a contest that, in true Furries style, has no rules and remains a mystery to even the most fervent of spectators. Immersed in a vivid landscape, the backdrop of blended red, yellow and green purposely evokes memories of Welsh ‘tramline’ football kits of the 1970s.

A band statement says:
“BING BONG is finally revealed to the world after its prolonged hibernation, released to bring colour and hope to Europe’s footballing, and semi or non-footballing, nations. BING BONG isn’t a song of victory, nor of defeat, but a beacon of faith to return to when your best centre forward gets sent off, or it rains at your festival. Keep it in a safe place for a time when you will need it.”
Today’s release also gives Furry fans the opportunity to invest in a BING BONG bundle including an mp3 download and t-shirt, designed by Pete Fowler using the single artwork. This is obtained, alongside updates, release and tour information, by visiting: www.superfurry.com
BING BONG features all five members of Super Furry Animals: Huw ‘Bunf’ Bunford (guitar/vocals), Cian Ciarán (keys/bleeps/vocals), Dafydd Ieuan (drums/vocals) Gruff Rhys (Roland string synth/vocals) and Guto Pryce (bass).
